"Suspect action" is the right term for this, and I don't mean Taskin's bowling.

What a change from just a change in format. After being throughly dominated in both traditional formats, the Windies are excelling in T20s.

They should prepare pitches like that more often............

Giving credit where it is due, Tamim and Kayes did bat well.................

This has been an epic comeback. Personally, I would never declare. I hope we bat out the remainder of the match...puts PAK out on the field for 5 sessions before the decider in Dhaka. Tamim has an opportunity to get a double or even a triple which would be a fantastic achievement and Mominul can maybe get an unbeaten knock (needs to get his average up past Ballance's before Ballance makes the list of highest averages on cricinfo!).

As far as wickets go, BD has always made flat wickets to try and avoid losing. Our batsmen sucked too much to do that until 2013 when we finally started drawing matches.

I think we will start making more result oriented wickets - most likely turners against any non-Asian side. But for that we need Taijul and Jubair to be in the squad with Shakib of course. We don't have the seames to capitalize on a pacer's wicket - damn near lost that Test vs ZIM - until Taskin and Mustafiz are ready. And that may take another 2 years or so.

I had called a 0-0 draw for this series over at pakpassion even before the tour began. Really thought PAK would win this until yesterday...I guess I know more than myself!

Just checked the OP, I did call a draw for this series on ZCF as well.

Massive defeat of 300+ runs to go down 0-1.

Highly disappointing cuz I didn't think it was the type of pitch to score just 400 runs across both innings. Horrible strategy though to only pick 3 bowlers and then field first. And one of the specialist bowlers bowled 2 balls before tearing his knee. I suppose its a miracle that a two man bowling lineup somehow managed to take 14 wickets.

The new seamer Mohammad Shahid was impressive in the fact that he wasn't dismantled like Lego's as I had predicted. Certainly better than an Rubel Hossain, whose Test career needs to be put down.

Top order batting was divine in Khulna, and atrocious one a slightly lively surface in Dhaka, barring Shakib and Mominul - who was a treat to watch while his teammates all batted like s**t.

Why would you bowl first when bowling is clearly BD's weakness on a pitch which from what Pakistan showed was pretty flat ???
ZCF OriginalZCF Hall of Famer
This wasn't totally flat. Compared to a sporting surface in england or RSA, yes it was flat, but usual BD pitches are 15 out of 10 in flatness. This track was like an 8. The one Zim played on last year was a 2-3.

Mushy was clearly looking to draw...not a bad strategy given our bowling stocks. A 0-0 draw like we got against NZ in 2013 is equal to a 1-1 result according to the ICC rankings. Had we drawn, we'd have 37 points and continue drawing closer to the WI. Instead we only gained a solitary point, moving up to 33 points.

At the start of 2013 we had at most 3 points.

I just can't understand the logic behind bowling first, unless it's an under prepared pitch they might get better for batting later on .......

Even if they were trying to draw bat first I think .......

Spending two days in the field always makes batting tough BD missed a trick here I think ......

It was a idiotic decision...hopefully a random brainfart. But Mushfiq tends make dumb moves and then instead of fessing up he makes an even dumber attempt at justifying himself. He's a very weak leader, will always blame others for his leadership failures. Now he's claiming we had three seamers in the attack: Shahid, Shahadat, and Soumya. He cannot admit when he's wrong, that he's a poor wicket keeper at best, and that he needs to bat up the order to fully utilize his ability.

He is an OK captain if your objective is to merely draw. He does not know how to win except with the bat. Just check his ODI record from 2014, we lost to anyone and everyone and only when Mashrafee took over did we attack for wins.

BD has saved a number of matches after fielding first and watching the opposition rack up 500+. Not sure if we won the toss in any of those games tho. It was a poor decision with terrible planning all around.

BD really need to work on their bowling in test matches ......
ZCF OriginalZCF Hall of Famer
The 3 bowler strategy has had mixed results so far. A phenomenal draw against Pakistan followed by a spectacular collapse.

Sadly, half of this game will probably we washed out due to rain. 34 overs lost on day 1.

Which means we have to wait until day 4 probably to see if Mominul can equal ABD's record of consecutive Tests with a fifty plus score.

Yeup good bounce back against the Windies today

Shakib batting at 3 is a good move I feel, it might not work but but they need to be a bit adventurous if they really want to have a good run at this World Cup.

They’re a better chance of winning the WC with Shakib batting at 3 than someone like Mithun

crushing win for BD!

Rather disappointing that Bangladesh are approaching test matches with a game plan that ensures they wont win. Playing 3 bowlers against India is ridiculous.

^ Yes, but which bowlers would threaten to make an impact? Rubel? Shahadat? Al Amin? Much as I cringe, I can understand the mindset. Bangladesh simply aren't good enough from a bowling standpoint. Until that happens, I'm okay with us just trying to bat out draws and climb as close to the WI and get into the top 8.

I think they should prepare better pitches....... It's not fun watching meaningless run-fests

^Pitch has just started turning...at least for the leggie Jubair if not the SLAs.

Couple of decent googlies to get rid of Kohli and Saha!

Once Taskin, Mustafizur, and Jubair lead the Test attack in a couple of years...we're going to be pretty decent. Batting is already pretty strong.

Wretched comments from captain Mushfiq that the bowlers' lack of discipline makes his idiotic captaincy look "foolish". Actually its his field settings which make the bowlers look bad. Ashwin got at least 3 of his 5 wickets caught at leg slip. Mushy never employs a leg slip or any third close catcher for his spinners. The time has come for him to lose both the captaincy and the WK gloves. Fortunately, Litton Das had a good batting debut to increase the likelyhood of that fumbling joker losing the WK spot. He may lost his captaincy even before the SA series in a few weeks.

ODI series starts in a few hours. There are reserve days for the ODIs so hopefully we get completed matches. Even a single win out of 6 games vs IND and SA should be enough to seal our spot for the champions trophy.

Litton Das looked pretty good on debut........

Mushfiqur Rahim has always been criticized for his poor captaincy and defensive approach..........

Both Tamim and Soumya Sarkar were batting well today but threw away their wickets at crucial moments.........

Interestingly, the selectors have picked four seamers...............

I feel BD could've got a bigger score........
