Taibu is playing one shot. Reverse sweep. He has managed to handle the spin that way, but not scoring at the rate you would need at the moment...
ZCF Hall of Famer
21 required off 12, which is probably too much now - where's Taylor when you need him... :(
ZCF Hall of Famer
..or maybe not. 6 & 4 from Stuey, and suddenly it's 10 off 10... ::cross fingers::

Damn it. This is bad for my nerves. Need Matsikenyeri back on strike, 10 off 7 required.

...and 6 required off the final ball. Deja vu.

Not today, unfortunately, but that was at least a fighting performance that would have had the Sri Lankans worried. Can't help but think we should have won it, though...

Why did mupariwa come out to bat early. Did utseya bottle a fight? I thought that our captain fantastic bats higher than him :?

We should have won it, and we should have bowled after winning the toss all the time. That's our strength, and it has been proved again today.

Masakadza has pretty much filled Taylor's shoes in recent times, but could not pull the win off today.

What a memorable game of cricket. Masakadza was excellent, really struck the ball powerfully. Sadly his wicket was the turning point. He shouldn't have gone for another huge shot, but waited for the powerplay instead. Honourable mentions to Sibanda, Taibu & Matsikenyeri. Sadly didn't have enough in the end, would have been pleasing to respond to the fierce criticism with a victory.

Im glad that ZC have dropped dabengwa for the first two matches. He has done nothing with bat or ball. It is true that chigumbura's form with the bat has tailed off lately but the differemce is that chigumbura is picking up lots of wickets. We cant be carrying people in this squad for too long especially given the inconsistency of others
yesterday I had a dream (sorry for my english) the zim cricket team was one of the best in the world. why not?

There is enough talent in zimbabwe.

But for this you must remove the zc board. Majority of peoples are incompetent. Tey never played cricket , there are not interested in cricket there are here for the money not for cricket . They did nothing for the game . look at the domestic structure: no national league again. There are all friends of mugabe regime;

remove also chawaguta, a coach with 6 first class games doest'nt coach a national team. He never played at international level.

lot of players are good, my team is :

hamilton masakadza

vusi sibanda

sean williams at 3 or 4 not at 7. it show the incompetence of chawaguta

taenda taibu

elton chigumbura

tawanda mupariwa

ray price

ed rainsford

they are intouchable in this team;

there is a lot of promising players:

regis chakabva, steven nyamuzinga, bonaparte ujuru, taf ngulube, malcolm waller good batting but also good spiner, bradley staddon a good innings against the pakistanis and why he lost his place? no commentary.

tymicen maruma, chris mpofu, ian nicolson,and graeme cremer for me the best wicket taker, this is the stats who speak.

we must taking back a few players: brendan taylor of course, heath streak,blessing mahwire,tinashe panyangara,andy blignaut,charles coventry; and this team is now a good decent team;

there isalso lot of players lost like the ervines brothers, colin de grandhomme in nz, grant flower, murray goodwin,gary ballance for yorkshire, glen querl, stephan marillier they played 2nd county cricket and lot of young players who live the country;

a last word my new coach in bob houghton: head coach with ali campbell coach for the batting and heath streak coach for the bowling;

Not been at all well since sunday so i missed the result of game 3 until getting back home yesterday evening.

An impressive fightback by the players, impressive indeed after the last 2 dreadful batting displays.

Nice to see Ed Rainsford given a chance to bowl, sounds as though he did well, another tight spell by Ray Price and some slightly expensive wicket taking by Tawanda Mupariwa and Elton Chigumbura, i see the most expensive bowling was from Prosper Utseya, who naturally gave himself a full 6 over stint. Far, far, far too many runs given away, all those wides and no balls again, by halving the extras Zim would have won the game, this is what having experienced coaches is all about, don't you think, Mr Chawaguta ?

It doesn't really seem fair to criticise any of Hamilton Masakadza, Vusi Sibanda or Tatenda Taibu, but they were not scoring quickly enough. If you had the experience of Murray Goodwin and Andy Flower to bat at 4 & 5 or 5 & 6, it would be ok, but Zim don't have that experience and the batsmen are not there to reliably contribute quick runs to squeeze the side home. I don't see the point in batting Sean Williams at 7 again, he should be at 3 or 4 and given the chance to build an innings.

All that said, well done to the players, you have given yourselves a lot of respect back after the first two matches, NOW KEEP IT UP ;)

Cricinfo says Williams is out due to illness. I fear this is the end of his career for Zimbabwe. I still believe he should have taken a firm decision long back, whatever it was. Be it sticking with Zimbabwe or moving on. This kind of oscillating decision making has not helped anybody.

But still hope this omission is indeed due to illness and that he continues to play for Zim.

good start now 1 for 61. they need to cotinue with this

I can't really understand what's happening here today.

Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bowl, with the series won that seems very strange, they are both robbing their own batsmen of some time in the middle and seeming like bullies rubbing Zim noses in the dirt with another walkover.

Not much to be said about Sean Williams, hopefully he is ill but he must also be annoyed about being put in at 7 for the last 2 games which is just as likely to be the reason for his non-appearance.

Keith Dabengwa :roll: , with the current score 108-6 maybe he will finally perform and smash 100 off the last 19 overs, no, i don't believe it either. Why not Chakabva or Mutizwa, Mujuru or Nyamuzinga, Cremer or Mawoyo ?

Interesting innings from Chigumbura, 5 from 41 balls, :?
ZCF Hall of Famer
Sri Lanka did say they thought they could beat us by an even wider margin - my guess is by bowling first they were taking a shot at that and trying to heap on some more humiliation. At 108/6 they're not going to do that, but they could still win this one by quite some margin. And Masakadza had gotten us off to such a good start, too...
Veteran
it a shame this happened. masakadza has been one of our best batsmen the past couple of months.

can anyone get the real score
