Opening post

What a Test and what a result for everyone’s 2nd favourite side Sri Lanka, after beating swept at home by England, beaten convincingly by New Zealand & thrashed by Australia this result might be the biggest in Test history??

The innings by Kusal Perera might be one of the best of all time

also, especially after being hit in the hit by Starc on his last test it was quite a rebound.

South Africa name their ODI side and again it's well short on batting, only 5 batsman picked in a 14 man squad, all well and good if your top order is firing but they're not

Faf du Plessis (capt), Quinton de Kock (wk), Reeza Hendricks, Imran Tahir, David Miller, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Andile Phehlukwayo , Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Dale Steyn, Rassie van der Dussen

Contrary to what you posted Jaybro, SA have two of three batters in the wings who I would seriously consider putting up top.

Amla deserves some time and a little bit of patience after such a stellar career. He's earned the right to go through a lean patch and remain in the side.

. Hamza

. Pieter Malan

. Muelder

. Markram

. Van der Dusson

. Jannamen Malan

6 guys to focus on, in terms of batting.

We all know that SA are blessed with a battery of pace bowlers. Having Nortje and Ngidi coming into an ODI squad at the expense of Olivier is testimony to this, so that front is fine and dandy.

Test cricket is the best. Well done SL for this amazing moment in cricket history
The Third Innings

Well they should bring at least two of them in, if not three if they’re that good. Bavuma should be dropped, Amla too or at least moved down the order and they really need to start playing 6 batsman again until they have a top 5 all averaging between 40-50 and a solid batting allrounder

Bye bye Duanne. The player drain in SA continues. This is a major major shock. Like Kyle Abbot he probably realised that players like Ngidi, Andile and other players of colour would invariably get the nod ahead of him if he has a couple of bad games. He'd only need to go wicketless in a game and then the spotlight would be back on him.

I think he's made the right move

I think it’s not just about the cricket, South Africa is quickly going down the shitter and as a white personnel I doubt you’d feel very welcome there.

I wonder if CSA will carry on about how they’ve been hard done by again like they did when Abbot and Rissouw left? Or will they finally see what the real effects of the Quota system is doing

They were absolutely furious with Rassouw weren't they. Abbot I got the impression they partially understood, but even i thought the timing from the former was poor, and his comments didn't help

Include Claude Henderson in there in place of one of the fast bowlers and you're on for a winner

That’s just the guys who have gone since the quota system started, 40 South Africans have gone Kolpak with Claude being the first
