Opening post

Afghans looking good to thump Sri Lanka in the opener.

Very odd scorecard. Sri Lanka took 20 off one over, but still only managed a mere 105 in 19.4 overs. That means they scored 85 runs from the other 18.4 overs at just 4.55 runs per over.

Don't they have 2 decent openers in the whole of country, Kriterion? So much so that Sabbir Rahman and Mehidy Hasan had the open the innings and played as pure batsmen!?

Mossasek has been one of their better performers with both bat and ball in recent games, he batted way too low at no. 7 and then didn't bowl a single over!!! That eas shocking for me.

The other Mehdi hasan, the lad who was bowling no balls, looked no good to me, I know he has played earlier but i haven't seen much of him. Today he never looked like someone who should bowl hos full quota, yet he did.

I liked Sabbir and Mehidy opening.

Wow! What a match. Throughout that run chase, until the last over I thought it was under Bangladesh's control, and yet they found a way to lose.

How did they manage to lose after getting that Karunaratne wicket is beyond me! Why on earth did Mossadek and Mehidy didn't bowl a single ball is also beyond me!!

Congratulations to SL though, they held their nerve really well.

BD should have defended that. Too many mistakes.

ahhahhhaha. Classic minnow battle

The match was good mate, it was a high intensity clash and I thought both teams fought hard. Bangladesh made too many mistakes though and that cost them dearly, especially the no balls.

Definitely the multitude of schoolboy errors cost BD the game. Dropped Mendis, then failed to review a fairly obvious nick a few overs later, and then got him out with a no ball that got reversed by the third umpire. 3 chances right there. On top of that way to many wides and no balls, where the Sri Lankans didn't bowl a single one.

Will be another great match, Dont know who is better tbh. The toss will again be most important

That was a cracking match today

Yeah, what a match. Obviously it's disappointing to see India on the losing side but credit to Pakistan. I thought once Babar got out early, it was over, as they depend so much on him and Rizwan.

Incredible run chase though. Pakistan have improved a lot since the start of 2021. They are much better side now than what they were last decade.

Anyways, I hope we face them again in the finals and get a chance at redemption.

Yeah it was great, enjoyable way to spend a Sunday evening for sure. Let's hope they both qualify for the final and we get to see them again. Treated to two great innings today from arguably the two best T20 bats of all time; https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/conte ... 82912.html

Rizwan is so underrated. If he was Indian the world would treat him like the second coming.

Also, I really hope we get an India-Pakistan Test in my lifetime. :(

Somee great games but seems like win the toss win the match again

I'm glad Bangladesh got thrashed out, that too by the two weakest sides in the Asia Cup. Our entire approach is wrong. You need [good] wrist spinners in white ball cricket, especially in T20, and Bangladesh has absolutely no interest in developing any. India, AFG, and SL all have wrist spinners...and quality ones at that. The only team that doesn't is Pakistan, but they don't need one because they are doing well without.

Bangladesh continues to throw an assortment of useless finger spinners out there.

Shadab khan.

I think you guys lost purely because of the toss lol. That team in the xi against sl was properly good. Like you said one more spinner, maybe bring one more quick and replace mushy with idk the next best batter and thats a solid team.

Congratulations to SL.

We are pretty much knocked out of the competition. This is what happens when you think every tom, d**k and harry from the IPL is a superstar. Servers them right.

India is the only team right now who have no clue what is their best XI. Just about anyone turns up and starts playing for India and they think he is a superstar.

That fake arrogance of we can play 3 teams and win every tournament in the world is brutally exposed. They haven't won any ICC event since 2013.

India wins bilaterals because no one gives a f*** to bilaterals these days and most teams experiment. When it comes to real stuff, we face reality.
ZCF OriginalZCF Hall of Famer
Nah bilaterals are still tough to win, especially in Tests.

Winning ICC events takes a good amount of luck in addition to actually being one of the top 2-3 sides in that format on form.

Think Sam is mainly referring to loi. And honestly he has a point. No one really knows what India`s best team is and they really should by now. Think ths is their wake up call
ZCF Hall of Famer
Yup folks, obviously referring only to LOIs.

Also there is a lot of arrogance, most 'experts' here speak like it's a given that India will win with complete disrespect for the opposition. If you watch our local news channels with all these former cricketers speaking, you'll lose your mind listening to them.

OMG!!! What a match between Pakistan and Afghanistan!!! That was a stunning finish from Naseem Shah!! Unbelievable scenes!!!
ZCF Hall of Famer
Wow, I only watched the final half hour - that was gripping! Ridiculous last few overs!! Looked like a lot of niggle. Pakistan really don't like losing, never have. Overstepped the line really. But great viewing!

Yeah mate, that was just great viewing!! I couldn't believe my eyes watching Naseem Shah hit those sixes out of nowhere.
ZCF OriginalZCF Hall of Famer
Looks like the Afghans choked yet again. They really can't handle pressure well at all. They'd give South Africa and Bangladesh a run for their money lol.

This might have been the most entertaining Asia Cup in recent memory.
