Ireland played just 3 Tests in their first 5 years, and will now more than double that amount in 2 months.
Looking for a good contest against a perennially rebuilding Sri Lankan side.

Ireland’s first actual series of longer than 1 match. They put up a very good fight against a full strength Bangladesh side. Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker, and Andy McBrine really did very well. Mark Adair bowled well also. But their top order was almost non existent. They really need Stirling in there and he will be available for the 2nd Test.

Huge step up in opposition, they'll get absolutely whacked in this series. And the England test will see records broken.

Galle has a history of being a very flat track. Irelands top order will have to come to the party if they want to compete.

The Lankans have named a fairly strong squad. Resting two of their leading quicks in Rajitha and Kumara. Granted Kumara is quite hit or miss.

The Irish top order really struggling. Right now it’s just Tucker and Tector scoring all their runs. Incidentally, two of their younger players.

Ireland is doing better than Zimbabwe would. When was the last time we had four 80+ scores in the same innings overseas or even at home for that matter?

I haven’t watched any of this but I’m guessing the pitch is as flat as roadkill?
