Should we be worried about Craig Ervine?

Should we be worried about Craig Ervine? His 2025 record was decent but a year is a long time at age 40-41. He did get a half-century in the test but that was also on a wicket where everyone seemed to be scoring.

I am a big fan of Craig and started Ervinemania years ago, but I fear he might be a passenger by the time the world cup comes along - still more than a year away.

Yes, we should be worried!

Burl offers more in ODIs, so might be time to move on from him.

Matthew Campbell could probably replace him in Test matches, given his current form. :)

Craig Ervine is a Zimbabwe cricket legend, but his best days are behind him. I still think he makes the Test side on merit, but he should be making way for someone else in ODIs.

We also don't play a lot of ODI cricket, I think he has played 6 ODIs in the last 2 years.

We played all those Tests last year which should have been Ervine's time to shine but turned out very average. Lots of starts but never went on when we really needed him to. I think we can safely rule him out for the 2027 World Cup but still keeps his Test spot imo.

Burl is a complete passenger and sneaks under the radar with more shocking selections and performances from other guys covering for him. Got 2k t20i runs the same series Bennett did but been playing 10 years longer 😂

Can think of probably two match winning knocks in his entire career and one blistering bowling performance. He should be the case study of white privilege avoiding too much scrutiny 😂😂

Sometimes 😂

He’s played 120 t20i’s compared to Wez’s 80 t20i’s
He’s made 4 t20i 50s compared to Wez’s 7 t20i 50s.

In summary he’s played 50% more t20i’s than wez has, scored 50% less 50s than wez has and gets 0% of the strays wez does 😂😂

Five of wez’s 50s are against full members. Bro literally has more 50s against full members than Burl does against anybody.

I’d make a case for wez’s bowling being better too. Very economical and has a bit of a golden arm.
