Opening post

Thought I should change this into the match thread for the first match so we've got a place to discuss the lead up to the series.

Uganda takes on Zimbabwe today and a Nairobi provincial side tomorrow in the other ties.

After what we did to Canada in 20 overs, surely 400+ would be on the cards from 50 overs, particularly if Masakadza can stay at the crease for 30+ overs. (unless the batsmen decide they want crease time that is)

Uganda: J. Olwenyi, D. Arinaitwe, B. Musoke, J. Sebbanja, E. Nakaana, C. Waiswa, A. Seiga, F. Nsubuga, R. Otim, L. Sematimba, R. Daniel, A. Kyobe, R. Mukasa, A. Baig

after the uganda match, i dont believe to many would of thought Zim would make 303 and have Ireland troubled this much, before the game

Oh yes - a win today puts Zimbabwe back above Ireland in the ODI rankings (Zim 10th on 19pts, Ireland 11th on 16).

I can't wait for Price to play in some more First Class matches - preferably against some A sides. I think he and Graeme Cremer will be a handful for other sides in the longer version of the game.

Seeing the sort of turn Cremer got in Canada, compared to Utseya for instance, he will take a lot of wickets IMO. Especially outside edges.

If either Cremer or Price were Australian, they'd be in the squad in India. Let's see... Jason Krezja or Ray Price? Cameron White or Graeme Cremer? No-brainers.

As for the Uganda game, I don't think we should read in to it too much. Wasn't even a List A game, statistically it never happened. :P

Fortunately! Didn't stop Cricket Europe putting the boot in, though - and they're usually quite restrained...

And another maiden for Price. 9-4-7-0.

Looks like Utseya's going to bowl Price and Maruma out before making any more changes.

This bowling performance by Price is currently the 14th most economical in ODI history. If the next over is a maiden, he will move up to 13th. Fingers crossed!

if anyone deserves a wicket its Price

Did you ever doubt? :)

Oh - O'Brien's rediscovered how to bat.

And Maruma had been doing so well, too - this is his last over...

I would bring Mpofu and Chigumbura back to finish them off.

and an unusually frugal one at that. Pity - it'll only encourage Utseya to keep him on...
