Opening post

Thought I should change this into the match thread for the first match so we've got a place to discuss the lead up to the series.

Uganda takes on Zimbabwe today and a Nairobi provincial side tomorrow in the other ties.

After what we did to Canada in 20 overs, surely 400+ would be on the cards from 50 overs, particularly if Masakadza can stay at the crease for 30+ overs. (unless the batsmen decide they want crease time that is)

Uganda: J. Olwenyi, D. Arinaitwe, B. Musoke, J. Sebbanja, E. Nakaana, C. Waiswa, A. Seiga, F. Nsubuga, R. Otim, L. Sematimba, R. Daniel, A. Kyobe, R. Mukasa, A. Baig

CricInfo just can't resist:

It was an important win for Zimbabwe, especially since they were easily beaten by the might of Uganda yesterday. Today, they justified their Full Member status against one of the leading Associates. The question is: can they sustain their dominance over the entire tournament?

On the other hand, hadn't realised this tidbit:

Ray Price whose ten overs went for just seven runs - the most economical figures by any Zimbabwean in ODIs.

Great win for Zim! Total domination. Only a couple of issues though... Masakadza must use his rich vein of form and convert his scores to 3 figures. It is criminal to not make the best use of form. Ask Alistair Campbell - He was an expert in that department, i.e., in throwing his wicket away while looking good.

Another thing is, Cremer might not get a game in the series, now that the "ususal suspects" have had a good game :(

Anyway, congrats for the win again...

They've changed their kit again:

I really like that. I would buy it if the ZC website gave me that option. I like the big Z in the background.

Although my favourite of all time is the green and red one with the big Old Mutual logo circa 2003-04. The one they used last year in the ODI's against South Africa with the new Old Mutual logo was nice too.

Who is the sponsor for this kit? I can't make out what that logo in the top left is :?

Yes they are according to the ZC and Ihsan websites. Are we still sponsored by Old Mutual?
