Opening post

Thought I should change this into the match thread for the first match so we've got a place to discuss the lead up to the series.

Uganda takes on Zimbabwe today and a Nairobi provincial side tomorrow in the other ties.

After what we did to Canada in 20 overs, surely 400+ would be on the cards from 50 overs, particularly if Masakadza can stay at the crease for 30+ overs. (unless the batsmen decide they want crease time that is)

Uganda: J. Olwenyi, D. Arinaitwe, B. Musoke, J. Sebbanja, E. Nakaana, C. Waiswa, A. Seiga, F. Nsubuga, R. Otim, L. Sematimba, R. Daniel, A. Kyobe, R. Mukasa, A. Baig

Anything other then a complete flooging of Uganda would not be accepted ;)
good to see that Uganda were given a match. i think Namibia should be played too. fairly local so costs can be kept to a premium, after all the ICC said Zim should play more lower ranked opposition if it wants to play tests any time soon.
Legend
Uganda really aren't all that bad. Sure they should be beaten fairly easily, but they did beat Kenya in a 20 20 last year, and they beat Bermuda on their last Kenyan tour...
whats the latest from uganda?

Just thought worth mentioning. If Creamer or Chakbva make there ODi debut they will become 100th Zim odi player.

New Vision's website appears to be down, Uganda Monitor has nothing yet. Will post something as soon as I can get some details.

Match is actually taking place in Kenya - Uganda have been on tour there for the past week or so.

Confirmed.

Zimbabwe 175 (Masakadza 55, Waiswa 2/40), Uganda 142/6 (31.4 overs [D/L target 125]; Kyobe 51). Uganda win by 17 runs (D/L method).

Uganda Monitor match report

Sounds like Zim weren't fielding a full-strength side, but even so - humiliation is the only word to describe this.

Runs off every ball for the past three overs. Not bad going.

Matsikenyeri out now. 27 off 19 isn't bad though, he's done his job for someone coming in during the final 10 overs.

If Taibu can make a century, well that would be a perfect end to the innings :)

With 5 overs to go... is 300 on the cards?

Dabengwa next in!? Where's Elton!?

Good possibility - a few guys left who can slog a bit, should be able to get a good few more runs on the board...

I think Chigumbura would have been a better choice too, but maybe they sent Dabengwa out to have a swing in the expectations he won't last long anyway.
guys i am off to work now. zim must surely win this one. i will stay in touch with the scores on my phone. 300 is nolonger possible. gud start anyway??

Makes more sense to use the reliable guy first, I would have thought, and save the hit'n'hope player for last resorts. But hey, I'm not the coach...
