Fixtures:

Sri Lanka v Zimbabwe - King City - October 10

Canada v Zimbabwe - King City - October 11

Pakistan v Zimbabwe - King City - October 12

Zimbabwe squad: Prosper Utseya (c), Regis Chakabva (wk), Chamunorwa Chibhabha, Elton Chigumbura, Graeme Cremer, Keith Dabengwa, Timycen Maruma, Hamilton Masakadza, Stuart Matsikenyeri, Christopher Mpofu, Tawanda Mupariwa, Taurai Muzarabani, Raymond Price, Tatenda Taibu (wk), Cephas Zhuwawo.

Weather: Friday (19°C | 5°C), Saturday (21°C | 9°C), Sunday (23°C | 10°C)

My predictions are that we will beat Canada quite convincingly, and not embarrass ourselves against Pakistan or Sri Lanka. We are capable of producing an upset (although it will be hard without our proven T20 performers Taylor and Sibanda) but if we do it will be the result of good bowling, as it was against Australia. With no Gary Brent we lose a good economic bowler, so we have to hope that Mupariwa will fill that gap and that Chigumbura will be the wicket taker he normally is.

I don't think this batting lineup is capable of more than 120 runs against decent opposition (but 140 with Taylor, 150 with Taylor and Sibanda), so that has to be the target for the bowlers to restrict the opposition to. Stuart Matsikenyeri must step up. He's been on the scene for what, 6 years now? He's done next to nothing in that time... I feel that his reputation has been carrying him for some time (ie. he made the 2003 World Cup squad with the likes of Andy & Grant Flower, Heath Streak etc, then he must be good) and he needs to start letting the bat do the talking.

Obviously Hamilton Masakadza is the key batsman, followed by Chamu Chibhabha who I think will do well batting at his preferred number three position again. Taibu has a lot hanging over his head, and while he is a good ODI and Test player, he has performed poorly in both the IPL and the T20 International's he's played. It would be nice to see him slaughter the opposition, perhaps score a century (against Canada, this is a real possibility for the entire top order - especially Masakadza) but as maehara said in another thread, it's pretty unlikely.

Now, my prediction for the Sri Lanka game: Taibu, Masakadza, Chibhabha, Matsikenyeri, Chakabva, Dabengwa, Chigumbura, Utseya, Price, Mupariwa, Mpofu

Marumisa made the ICC World Twenty20 squad but didn't play, I think this will be the case for Zhuwawo to an extent. Play Sri Lanka with the best possible team (and if we win, play the same team against Pakistan), but play Zhuwawo against Canada (probably in place of Dabengwa) and again against Pakistan for the experience if we lost the Sri Lanka game.

Utseya comes on in the 3rd over itself, and Ali Campbell is impressed with the decision. And Ray Price was there to encourage him, just before Utseya started off the over. And its a maiden too. Good start - 3 overs, 9/1.

I am very impressed by that maiden from Utseya, thats how a real captain should think. Great stuff!

Utseya should get some people close to the bat, he's bowling well.

Price is on now.

I wonder when Maruma will be introduced? No Dabengwa today :D :D

2 games for them to realise how much Dabengwa can be a liability 😂

Matsikenyeri on ahead of Maruma. Maight be a good move, as he is an off-spinner, and both batsmen are left handed.

EDIT: If he bowls well that is

I hope so, his first few balls looked good. Although I'd like to see Maruma get a chance, what is he doing in the team if he's not going to bowl? :(

Prosper Utseya's 0/6 from 4 overs are the most economical figures in T20I history. That's fantastic :)

So that is Kenyon Ziehl eh? I wonder why he didn't talk about the Dabengwa issue

Here's something we must be proud of. At least we have salvaged something :)

We have been thoroughly beaten by Pakistan, Zimbabwe has detiriorated. We played better against England at the T20 World Cup
ZCF Hall of Famer
Indeed. There have been a few things which we can take away from the series; Masakadza's batting, Taibu's batting, Price's bowling, and now Utseya coming into some form (as a bowler). The spirit we showed at times against Sri Lanka too.

Good to see Mpofu picked up another wicket as well. :D

But on the whole, this series has been a huge disappointment. And there is another match tomorrow, Zimbabwe vs Canada in the third place playoff, which before the series I would have been very confident about... but now... :(

juat looking at the scorecard we have been beatin fairly easy. Well done to Masakadza, he is in some good form. It was also good to see mpofu pick up some wickets and a good bowling performance from Utseya too.

Are we still voting for players after the series. For the Zim cricket forum player of the year
iin all the games so far in this series zimbabwe just needed znother batter to make 20 plus and it would of been a lot more competitive and the bowler have bowled well to kept the matches with a over spare so far

I wont be able to see this match live, but hope to wake to good news. We have to finish on a postive note. This should be an easy win you would think so. They should keep same team from the Pak match.

come on guys lets give one last good performance

Start delayed due to wet outfield (15mins expected); Canada have won toss and will bowl.

2 changes think creamer and debanga are back in
ZCF Hall of Famer
Yeah, Utseya was as vague as ever but it sounded like he said two spinners are coming in, so it must be Cremer and...... *sigh*, Dabengwa.

Zhuwawo keeps his spot. It looks like Chakabva was dropped, didn't see who the other omission was.
