Opening post

Pakistan touring Bangladesh after 6 years for 3 T20Is and 3 Test as part of ICC World Test Championship 2021–2023 circle. Pakistan are in red hot form after good show in T20 WC 2021 with Bangladesh facing worst time at present, after 5 consecutive defeats in Super 12 followed by defeat against Scotland in recently held T20 World Cup 2021 at UAE.

More negetive for Bangladesh as they will be without the services of their two biggest stars Shakib al Hasan & Tamim Iqbal due to injury and both will not be the part of the whole series. Positive for Bangladesh they have been phenomenal at home beating Australia and New Zealand in T20 and winning consecutive series for the first time. Bangladesh are expected to bring some young stars both in their T20 squad after debacle in the T20 World Cup and in Test squad as replacement of Tamim & Shakib.

LOL, 100 as a 20 over total. That too at home on a standard pitch. BD at its lowest point yet.

BD really messed up with their future planning jeez. Surely guys in the middle generation like Soumya, Liton, Sabbir etc will pick up their s**t

Finally Emon in the squad, they should have brought Joy also. Its disgusting that BD selectors havent move on from the group of Soumya, Liton, Nasir, Sabbir, Mosadek, Mithun

Pakistan keep churning out fast bowlers out of nowhere. Mohammad Wasim and Shahnawaz Dahani are guys I'd never heard of and both are clocking 145 clicks. Thats in addition to Shaheen, Rauf, Naseem etc. I'd wager there are 10-15 guys in Pakistan who can bowl at 145 or faster.

Poor Umpiring. Batsman was clearly ready to face the bowler, poor call from Umpire to give decision favour of Pak

Dahani is their PSL find, he is a good bowler. Wasim is a bowling all rounder, he can hit some big shots as well. Both went to the WC, Dahani was in the reserves.

Squad for 1st Test- Mominul Haque (C), Shadman Islam, Saif Hasan, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim, Litton Kumar Das, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Nayeem Hasan, Taijul Islam, Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury, Abu Jayed Chowdhury Rahi, Yasir Ali Rabbi, Mahmudul Hasan Joy, Rejaur Rahman Raja, Shakib Al Hasan (subject to being declared fit to play)

Great to see Joy & Raja. Seems Management is interested to give long go to Liton, Shadman & Saif all of them played less test matches but havent looked comfortable against quality bowling, hard luck for the experienced Naeem Islam & Raqibul Hasan, Pinak Ghosh, Taibur Rahman not picked despite scoring plenty in domestic. Bangladesh should have gone for experienced four day players against this strong Pak team

BD batting first. No Tamim, no Shakib. Yasir Ali finally makes his debut...has a great FC record.

Shanto, Mominul, Mushfiq, Yasir - very good meaty middle order for Bangladesh.

Need 400 at least batting first.

Saif Hasan is a similar to Brian Chari, scoring plenty in the domestic but failing at the international level. May be its early but so, far he haven't looked comfortable in any of the format. Shadman, nearly 2 years in test cricket, when he will deliver against strong opposition. There is still no replacement of Tamim Imrul opening due for BD in test.BD team performances have come only against Zim and Windies.

Its enough, BCB should invest in longest format now, otherwise they will join Windies that raises question of their participation in the championship

They should have brought back Naeem Islam & Rakibul to add experience in the side based on domestic performance

Chari still has better technique than Saif. Shadman is quite solid...looked very rusty today vs Shaheen, but Shaheen is a world class quick. Poor dismissals from Mominul (granted it was a top class delivery) and especially Shanto.

69-4 is a terrible score to be at going into lunch. Pitch seems to have some turn in it...but Chittagong is known to get flatter as the match progresses. Might be an excellent toss to lose for PAK, and with 4 down the first session, this could be a very easy game for them.

Thats what called pure form of cricket. Needs to have gritty approach to face world class. Same Shaheen struggles against top class teams in bowling friendly condition. Its the approach that needs to be blamed not the quality. Saif was beaten by pace of the short bowl, which he should have left, Shanto was playing too many needless shorts, Mominul had the experiene fall to an inexperienced spinner

Bangladesh should have gone for defensive approach in first hour and waited for the pitch to become batting friendly later in the day

Kriterion, Experience matters in test cricket. You cant simply put these one or two season performers against ones who are playing the domestic season for 4/5 years. Age is just a number as performance speaks for them. Raqibul, Naeem,Taibur should have been playing this test

Ends the day on a strong position. We need 375-400 though to think of being safe from a defeat. Backing Mominul and Shanto to come to the party in the 2nd innings.

330 is a woefully under par total on this track. PAK will post 500 or even 600.

Good news is the track ought to play flat till the very end...hopefully.

So we get ourselves an unexpected lead of 44 runs. Handy runs I say. Still anyone's game IMO. Bangladesh will need to set a target of at least 250...but given Windies just chased 395 here a few months ago...we won't feel comfortable until we get a lot more than that.

Shanto and Mominul gone for ducks. 83 for 4 overall. Will need at least 200, and ideally 250 to have any chance. I can't really see that happening. Far more likely we set them a measley 150 target to chase and end up losing by 5-6 wickets.

If Mominul and Shanto had scored another 50 runs each (a pair of 30s in both innings)...we'd be 183-4 and in the driver's seat. Such a shame. Great chance to knock off a full strength Pakistan side minus Tamim and Shakib.

Hats off to Taijul, and especially Ebadat who bowled with pace and tightly attacked the stumps all innings long. Extremely rare to see a Bangladesh seamer bowl 20+ overs and concede less than 2 runs per over.

Mushy gonna have to come in clutch

Bangladesh horrible top order costing them this test against Pak despite getting lead.

Pakistan have a very very easy draw for this WTC. Their away series are against WI, Ban, SLN, with due respect thats relatively easy than playing the likes of Australia or South Africa away. They've already won 2 away tests and lost 1.

Home series against AUS, ENG and NZL, they can surely win most games at home.

I think Pakistan have a great chance of making it to the WTC finals this time.
