Afghanistan tour of Bangladesh (World Cup Super League)

3 ODIs and 2 T20Is on tour. Bangladesh have named a full strength squad with all of Tamim, Shakib, Rahim, and Mahmudullah in the side.

Curious to see if the Afghans leave their PSL stars out...will be a markedly weakened side either. I reckon even at full strength, the Afghans would have been Tigerwashed in the ODIs.

141 clicks from Azmatullah there. Farooqi also with decent pace and looks to be a solid find for the Afghans.

The extras keep flowing, perhaps not as frequently as the start of the innings. Bangladesh really should be looking to get to 300 with so many freebies.

This is the crux of good batsmanship, which is important for Test and ODI batting.

Bangladesh so far have hit ZERO sixes, but maintaining a run rate of 5.5 an over.

In the first ODI, Afghanistan hit 5 sixes, but only scored at 4.37 runs per over. Zimbabwe have also historically had a similar problem (minus the six hitting of the Afghans).

Afghanistan took 4 hours to bowl their 50 overs, they might lose out on some WSL points here. Should.

To be honest we dominated most of game 1 also apart from the [once in a blue moon] collapse.

Partnerships of 174 and 201 runs rarely occur in back to back white ball matches, and when they do, indicate a TOTAL domination of the opposition bowling attack.

Lahore Qalandars want to fly Rashid out of Bangladesh for the PSL final, but he says his top priority is with the AFG national team. Kudos to him!

The over rate penalties are applied extremely randomly and/or suspiciously. Zimbabwe should have been docked points in one of the SL games last month - we were very clearly over the cut off in one of the innings - See our boys sprinting to change ends in the last few overs and Regis shouting at everyone to hurry the f**k up - literally. We got away with it somehow, no idea how. And in the India Vs England super league series last year, I think every innings of every game was quite a lot over the cut-off time. No penalties.

Its up to the match referee AFAIK...nothing to do with the ICC suits in Dubai. Also I think there is sometimes a lag in terms of when the penalties are applied.

We're struggling in the final ODI...179-8 after 44 overs.

Afghanistan have not gotten more than 220 this series, so that looks like a target we should shoot for here. Will be tough but we still have Mahmudullah there.

10 vital points for the Afghans...they will probably go through automatically at this point. Means WI and SL are both looking at the qualifiers in all likelihood.

Afghans certainly are making it directly which means if Zimbabwe or Ireland have to qualify (or anyone else) then inevitability one of the top 8 nations are going to miss out from the WC. One of SLN / WI are at huge risk.


West Indies I reckon. SL at full strength are much more solid than the WIndies


SL and Windies are neck and neck in ODIs. Both have terrible pace attacks, and their batting is suspect.

Super League will eventually be decided by point % so one of SL/WI is definitely going to have to go to the qualifier. Perhaps even both if Afghans pick up a few more wins against any opposition.


Chameera,Chamika, Binura and Kumara are not 'terrible.' And our batting at full strenght is much better than the Windies outfits theyve been putting out. Windies full strenght batting probably will never happen lol

In LOI any bowling attack can catch a beating, but SL/WI/England have the worst bowling lineups out of the top 10 teams. And all 3 are very poor on recent form IMO.

3-2 result overall is pretty good for AFG imo. Bangladesh isn't an easy place to win. For Bangladesh 4-1 would have been satisfactory but 3-2 isn't ideal or what they would have hoped for.

Bigger challenges await in South Africa.
